How does the appliance filter peer-to-peer traffic?

Trafifc Shaping
The Edge appliance filters peer-to-peer traffic by first identifying the traffic flows using our own application signature database and then by creating blocking rules which prevent the applications from being used.

The P2P blocking signatures are continuously being updated, but include the following applications: Gnutella, Napster, iMesh, Kazaa, Direct Connect, etc.

The IM blocking signatures are continuously being updated, but include the following applications: Yahoo, AIM, MSN, Skype, etc.
